Han IBMS rated No.1 in Netherlands

lsevier Magazine recently published the figures for 2012 and International Business and Management Studies (IBMS) offered at Arnhem Business School was rated number one in the Netherlands. According to the magazine, students of IBMS at HAN University of Applied Sciences are extremely satisfied with their course. 

National Student Survey (NSE)

Elsevier based this conclusion on the results of the National Student Survey (NSE), which is carried out by the research institute ResearchNed on behalf of Stichting Studiekeuze123. Each year Elsevier Magazine investigates the quality of degree courses in higher education.

Evaluations

The courses were evaluated on five main points: 

• Facilities
• Course design
• Quality of lecturers and education
• Assessment
• Internal communication and organisation

IBMS students are extremely satisfied with the quality of guidance and involvement of the lecturers. Students also value the lecturers’ expertise in their respective fields.

Students are extremely satisfied

Another area in which IBMS students are extremely satisfied is the course design. Students appreciate the freedom of choice and contact with professional practice, for example. 70% of IBMS students are extremely satisfied on this point, compared to a national average of only 53%.

IBMS students are also extremely satisfied with the spread of the study load across the academic year as well as the feasibility of deadlines, teaching methods used and substantive quality of the course material.

Arnhem Business School

Arnhem Business School (ABS) is the internationally renowned business faculty within HAN University of Applied Sciences. They offer several English-taught Bachelors and Masters degree courses in business, logistics and management. With around 1,000 students from 30 different countries, the school aims to enhance employability and internationalisation.

Over 45 percent of IBMS’s 419 students completed the survey. The results are presented in a number of places, including the independent comparison site www.studiekeuze123.nl, an initiative of the Dutch government and all Dutch universities and universities of applied sciences. Prospective students can use this site to compare courses based on aspects such as the NSE student ratings.
